WITSIDE is a leading provider of Data Management, Applied AI and Business Intelligence solutions in Greece.

We offer a flexible and exciting work environment, along with plenty of opportunities for you to grow both professionally and personally.

We are looking for a Data Engineer – SAP BO & Data Integration Specialist with 3–5 years of experience, ready to take on complex data integration and migration challenges in enterprise environments.

This role focuses on SAP BusinessObjects reverse engineering and SAP data integration, combined with strong SQL and PySpark skills and proven hands-on experience on modern data platforms (Microsoft Fabric, Databricks or Snowflake).

The ideal candidate bridges legacy SAP BI expertise with modern data engineering practices.

The Role

As a Data Engineer – SAP BO & Data Integration Specialist at WITSIDE, you will:

  • Analyze and reverse-engineer SAP BusinessObjects reports and Universes (.unx/.unv/.wid) to extract business logic and transformation rules
  • Translate legacy BO logic into SQL Views and PySpark notebooks on modern data platforms
  • Work with SAP BW data models, InfoProviders, and extraction logic in the context of migration and integration projects
  • Integrate and extract data from SAP source systems (ECC, S4/HANA, Datasphere) into modern data platforms
  • Implement SQL-based transformations and data models following best practices (modular design, testing, documentation, lineage)
  • Build and maintain dbt models for SQL-based transformations where applicable
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams — including BI consultants, project managers, and client stakeholders — to deliver end-to-end migration solutions
  • Contribute to data modeling and curated data marts for BI & analytics workloads
  • Utilize Git for version control and collaboration

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in computer science, or a related discipline

  • 3–5 years of experience in data management, data integration, or BI development

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Must be comfortable working with deadline schedules to meet changing needs to ensure timely, accurate project completion

  • Leadership ability, interpersonal skills, communication skills and customer focus

  • Hands-on experience with SAP BusinessObjects — Universe design/analysis and report development/reverse-engineering (essential)

  • Deep, hands-on expertise in SQL and PySpark for large-scale data processing and transformation

  • Professional hands-on experience with at least one modern data platform: Microsoft Fabric, Databricks or Snowflake

  • Familiarity with SAP Data Integration — ECC, S4/HANA, Datasphere, or similar SAP source systems

  • Experience with dbt for SQL-based transformations

  • Solid understanding of ETL/ELT processes, data modeling, and Lakehouse concepts

  • Experience using Git for versioning & collaboration
