Job Description
WITSIDE is a leading provider of Data Management, Applied AI and Business Intelligence solutions in Greece.
We offer a flexible and exciting work environment, along with plenty of opportunities for you to grow both professionally and personally.
We are looking for a Data Engineer (IBM Stack) with 2–4 years of experience, ready to work on enterprise-grade data integration and analytics projects within the IBM ecosystem.
The primary focus of this role is IBM SPSS Modeler and IBM WatsonX.Data, building analytical data flows and connecting them to modern data platform assets.
Alongside IBM technologies, the role requires solid SQL and PySpark skills and proven hands-on experience on at least one modern data platform (Microsoft Fabric, Databricks or Snowflake).
This role offers a strong growth path: beyond the IBM stack, the engineer will progressively gain exposure to additional data engineering platforms and tools (including Microsoft Fabric, Databricks, dbt, and the Qlik stack) through WITSIDE’s broader client portfolio.
The Role
As a Data Engineer (IBM Stack) at WITSIDE, you will:
- Build and configure IBM SPSS Modeler streams and nodes for data processing, transformation, and analytics workflows
- Connect SPSS Modeler streams to IBM WatsonX.Data (Presto/Spark) as the primary data source, consuming SQL Views and materialized PySpark outputs
- Implement and validate data transformation logic within SPSS Modeler, ensuring output consistency with source definitions
- Develop and optimize SQL queries and PySpark notebooks on WatsonX.Data for data preparation and feature engineering
- Build and maintain dbt models for SQL-based transformations where applicable
- Apply software engineering best practices: version control, testing, documentation, and peer review
- Collaborate with data engineers, BI consultants, and project managers to deliver end-to-end data integration solutions
- Progressively expand skills across WITSIDE’s broader technology stack, including Microsoft Fabric, Databricks, dbt and Qlik, as project needs evolve
- Utilize Git for version control and collaboration
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in computer science, data science, or a related discipline
- 2–4 years of experience in data engineering, data integration, or analytics engineering
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Must be comfortable working with deadline schedules to meet changing needs to ensure timely, accurate project completion
- Leadership ability, interpersonal skills, communication skills and customer focus
- Hands-on experience with IBM SPSS Modeler — stream design, node configuration, and external data source connectivity (essential)
- Hands-on experience with IBM WatsonX.Data (Presto SQL, Spark engine) or equivalent IBM data platforms
- Deep, hands-on expertise in SQL and PySpark for large-scale data processing and transformation
- Professional hands-on experience with at least one modern data platform: Microsoft Fabric, Databricks or Snowflake
- Experience with dbt for SQL-based transformations
- Solid understanding of ETL/ELT processes, data modeling, and Lakehouse concepts
- Experience using Git for versioning & collaboration
