We are looking for a Data Engineer with 2–4 years of experience to contribute to designing, developing, and optimizing modern Microsoft Fabric-based data platforms.

 

This role offers the opportunity to work extensively with Microsoft Fabric (OneLake, Lakehouses, Warehouses, Pipelines, Dataflows, Spark), while also leveraging complementary technologies such as Data Build Tool (dbt), Azure Data Services and Databricks where required.

The Role

As a Data Engineer at WITSIDE, you will:

 

  • Design, develop, and maintain Lakehouse architectures in Microsoft Fabric (Medallion – Bronze/Silver/Gold layers)
  • Develop and optimize Data Pipelines & Dataflows for ingestion and transformation into OneLake
  • Build and manage Delta Tables in Fabric Lakehouse
  • Implement SQL-based transformations using dbt integrated with Fabric and Databricks, alongside PySpark notebooks where required
  • Apply software engineering best practices in SQL development (modular models, testing, documentation, lineage via dbt)
  • Develop SQL solutions primarily on Fabric Warehouse, Azure SQL, Synapse, or similar data platforms
  • Optimize performance and scalability of Fabric and Databricks-based data solutions
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver end-to-end data integration solutions
  • Contribute to data modeling and curated data marts for BI & analytics workloads
  • Utilize Git for version control and collaboration

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in computer science, or a related discipline
  • 2-4 years of experience in data management and data integration
  • Strong SQL skills & hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric (Warehouse/Lakehouse), Synapse, Databricks, or similar data platforms
  • Hands-on experience in Python or Scala for data processing
  • Solid understanding of ETL/ELT processes, data modeling, and Lakehouse concepts
  • Experience with dbt for SQL-based transformations
  • Experience using Git for versioning & collaboration
  • Microsoft Certified: Fabric Data Engineer Associate (DP-700) or Databricks Data Engineer Associate certification is a plus
  • Exposure to Talend or SAP-related data integration is a plus
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines for data workflows is a plus
  • Understanding of Semantic Model design in Microsoft Fabric (measures, relationships, performance considerations) is a plus
  • Ability to build analytical dashboards in Power BI on top of Fabric Lakehouse or Warehouse when required is a plus
  • Experience with Qlik Stack (Data Integration & Analytics) is a plus
